Have you ever wanted to kiss a book? Not a slobbery French kiss, but just a little peck on the cover?

You haven’t? Well…this is embarrassing.

Anyway, that’s how much I loved this novel!

Perhaps you remember Circe from The Odyssey. She was the enchantress who turned men into pigs. Not much of a switch, is it? Ha! Just kidding of course.

In Madeline Miller’s amazing novel, Circe starts out as a quiet little nymph. But before long, she discovers her knack for witchcraft. As punishment, she gets banished to an island where occasional visitors (Hello, Hermes. What’s up, Odysseus?) bring drama, turmoil, and adventure to her life. Circe progresses from meek nymph to bad-ass, witch-goddess heroine. Total girl power here!

And by the way, Miller’s prose is so lyrical, so poetic, so enchanting–you’ll feel like you’re dreaming a sweet dream. The story is rich in theme, character, conflict. HBO has even ordered a series based on this bestseller. I just can’t say enough about it.

In summary: One of my favorite novels of all time. One of the best ever. Enjoyed every second of it! Please, please, please read it!
